5 Reasons Why Autumn is the Best Time for Botox®

As we reach mid-autumn, it’s clear that the warmer weather is well and truly on its way out, and winter is approaching. Looking towards the festive season, many of us are planning the type of beauty treatments we require to look our very best for the events and get-togethers that come at the end of the year. Aesthetics procedures are fast becoming a solid part of this pamper routine for many people. While it’s perfectly acceptable to receive Botox® treatments at any time of the year, autumn is a particularly good time to do so.

We’ve put together five reasons why harvest season is the perfect time to book in for your injectable appointment, along with some top Botox® aftercare tips for prolonging your results.

What is Botox®?

Botox® (Botulinum toxin) is an injectable treatment inserted into the face to relax the muscles and smooth out lines and wrinkles. By weakening or paralysing these muscles, it blocks certain nerves to create the desired result.

As a cosmetic treatment, Botox® is safe, effective and minimally invasive. It is predominantly used to target lines around the eyes, on the forehead and between the eyes. It is by far one of the most popular aesthetic treatments available to consumers, mainly since you can achieve excellent results without the need for cosmetic surgery.

What makes Autumn a great time to get Botox®?

1. Post-Summer Refresh

Summer 2021 has been a welcome improvement on last year. The end of lockdown coupled with the warm, sunny weather meant many of us were regularly out socialising for the first time in a lock time. The effect of this rapid increase in late nights, early mornings and overindulgence is rearing its head now that we’re all starting to slow down a little as the weather cools.

Many of us feel like we need a facial refresher to help us feel renewed for the changing season, making the autumn months a great time to consider treatment. A procedure was likely undertaken in preparation for summer for those who receive regular follow-up appointments every 3 to 4 months, so now is the perfect time for a top-up.

2. Less Hectic Schedule

As the nights grow steadily darker and we prepare to rewind our clocks at the end of October, we’re spending less time out socialising and more time indoors catching up on our favourite Netflix series. As our schedules begin to lighten and with schools back in session for the foreseeable future, many of us are enjoying some extra time to ourselves. Of course, a crucial part of this precious time alone is self-care, and aesthetic treatments are the perfect pick-me-up for busy individuals — whether you’re a student, working professional or parent (or combination of the three!)

The best part about non-invasive cosmetic treatments is the short amount of time the procedure takes. The appointment time tends to be around 15 minutes in total, meaning that if you do have a hectic schedule, you can easily slip out on your lunch break and be back in time for your next meeting. Moreover, recovery time is almost non-existent, with patients generally only experiencing a small amount of swelling or bruising that lasts for a few days. Botox® aftercare is usually a simple process and a matter of following clear guidelines set out by your aesthetician.

3. Skip the Heat

Following any injectable treatment, it’s generally recommended by doctors and practitioners to avoid direct sunlight and intense heat for the first few days post-procedure to avoid worsening Botox® side effects. While in the autumn you’ll still need to avoid such places as steam rooms, saunas and sunbeds, you won’t have to worry about stepping out of the clinic and straight into the midst of a UK heatwave!

Steering clear of hot, sunny weather for a few days after a Botox® treatment can be frustrating and get in the way of social plans — especially when all of your friends are out enjoying the few days of sunshine, and you’re not able to join them. Booking in for a cooler time of year eliminates this problem and allows for effective Botox® aftercare without worrying that swelling is being irritated or worsened by the weather.

4. Festive Season Ready

Getting pampered and prepared for the party season is nothing less than a ritual for people across the country. While refreshing your highlights and having insta-worthy nails might be top of your list, don’t forget that the Botox® treatment you got months ago doesn’t last forever — you have to get it topped up to maintain amazing results!

Although an autumn appointment may seem premature for December events, it’s worth noting that clinics will have phenomenal demand for the festive season, so it’s best to book in a good few weeks ahead to secure your procedure and make sure you don’t miss out. Botox® aftercare can also last for a few days, so it’s best not to have your injectable treatment directly before an important event.

5. New You For the New Year

Let’s face it — who doesn’t love a refreshing makeover to ring in the new year? Botox® undertaken in the autumn will last for several months and give your skin a new lease of life for 2022. Start as you mean to go on and make sure you’re looking very best to make the next year your best one yet.
