Which Aesthetic Treatments are Predicted to Trend in 2022?

As we speed through December and with Christmas rapidly approaching, many of us are looking beyond the festivities and to our goals and aspirations for the new year. For a growing number of people throughout the UK, health and wellness is becoming a priority rather than an afterthought, and procedures in aesthetics medicine are becoming increasingly popular throughout the country.

Are you looking forward to indulging in some cosmetic treatments in the new year and intrigued about upcoming aesthetic trends for 2022? In an industry that is growing at an incredible rate and worth billions in the UK alone, it can be tough to keep up with the newest and most popular tweakments. Luckily, we’ve compiled a list of some of the hottest beauty trends for the new year and will break them down in detail for you in this blog post.

The popularity of aesthetic medicine

The aesthetics industry is a vast global market that has grown significantly in the past decade, adapting and catering to changing beauty trends throughout the years. The rise in the “social media influencer” and close interaction between celebrities and their followers online has undoubtedly played an enormous role in the increasing demand for aesthetic tweakments. A shift away from expensive surgical procedures, too, has meant that non-invasive cosmetic enhancements have become accessible for a much wider variety of individuals and budgets. The ease and convenience of booking and attending an appointment have also contributed to the skyrocketing demand. While surgical procedures generally involve hospital stays and lengthy, uncomfortable recovery times, the average aesthetic treatment takes around 10 minutes, and patients typically enjoy little to no pain, side effects or recovery time. As demand increases, clinics across the country continue to widen their selection of services in an effort to retain patients and grow their client base.

Aesthetic trends 2022

As we approach the new year, there appears to be a growing interest in “combination aesthetic treatments” intended to complement each other and create an all-over enhancement. As the focus on health, wellness and self-care rage on, there is also an increasing demand for subtle maintenance tweakments, such as the elimination of heavy bags under the eyes or slight, flattering changes to the shape and plumpness of the lips. This is a clear move away from the overdone look that was popular in years prior, with thanks in part to celebrities such as Kylie Jenner, who initiated the “duck lips” era.

Here are some of the treatments we anticipate will be significant aesthetic trends in 2022:

Profile Balancing

A hugely popular combination of treatments, profile balancing involves harmonising the chin in ratio with the nose and lips. The practitioner will conduct a full assessment of the face and identify areas where structure is lacking. Dermal fillers are injected into the areas of concern on these features, creating symmetrical alignment and enhancing the profile view. Depending on the individual, profile balancing may also target the cheeks to raise the volume in the area above and around the cheekbones.

Nefertiti neck lift

The Nefertiti neck lift is a unique combination treatment that works to restore elasticity and rejuvenate the skin on the neck and jawline areas. Using small drops of Botox® in the lower part of the face, jaw and neck, the result is increased definition, reduced sagging in the neck and a decrease in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The Nefertiti neck lift is the perfect preventative procedure to reduce premature signs of ageing and for those who want to enjoy smoother-looking skin and an enhanced feeling of youth.

Tear trough fillers

Highly effective in treating heavy undereye bags and reducing the depth of the tear trough (the crease between the lower eyelid and upper cheek), tear trough fillers are hugely popular with busy working professionals and exhausted parents keen to fight the effects of a lack of sleep. The hollow appearance that a deep tear trough creates also contributes to tell-tale signs of ageing and becomes more pronounced over the years. The ability to combat this sunken look and make the skin appear tighter and fuller also makes the procedure extremely popular with those aged 50+ and one of the most anticipated aesthetic trends of 2022.

Marionette lines

Marionette lines are the name given to the wrinkles that extend downwards due to the diminishing volume in the upper parts of the face, spreading from the corners of the mouth and creating a separated look between the cheeks and chin. This sunken look becomes more defined with age. Luckily, dermal filler injectables work wonders to eliminate these deep folds, adding plumpness to the area and creating a smoother and more youthful appearance.
